INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy's men's soccer team took a 1-0 victory over visiting Drury at Key Stadium Friday night. The win improves the Greyhounds' record to 7-5-0 overall, and matches the program-best GLVC win total with seven. UIndy is now 7-4-0 in conference play.
Max Marsh put the Greyhounds on the scoreboard early, scoring just after the six-minute mark. Marsh stayed with a ball heading into the Drury keeper's territory, and was rewarded with a mis-touch by the Panther keeper. Marsh sent the ball past, into the bottom left portion of the net to pu UIndy up 1-0 early.
The Greyhounds had a chance to make the score 2-0 just before the 62-minute mark, with Joseph McGuire sending a ball in form the right side, to the head of
Devon Moore. Moore missed sneaking the goal into the left side of the net by just inches.
Drury narrowly tied the match with just less than 10 minutes, but a stellar save by UIndy keeper
Justin Roberts on the left side of the goal kept the Greyhounds in line for the victory.
Both teams took seven shots on the night, with UIndy getting two of its shots on goal. Drury had one shot on goal. Drury was awarded seven corner kicks in the match to UIndy's two.
The Greyhounds stay at home for a Sunday match with Rockhurst. It will be the final home contest of the 2010 regular season, and UIndy will honor its two seniors,
Will Tanoury and
Scott Gyllenborg prior to the match.
