HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The 19th-ranked UIndy volleyball team (18-6, 7-2 GLVC) won its ninth consecutive match Friday night, taking host Northern Kentucky down in five sets. The Greyhounds out-hit the Norse .333 to .143 in the final set to earn its second five-set win in the last four matches.
The Hounds dropped the opening set but came back to win the next two and push NKU to the brink. The Norse (15-12, 5-4) responded by hitting .324 in the fourth to force a fifth and decisive set.
UIndy looked to be in trouble early, falling down 6-2 in the race to 15. After tying it a eight apiece, the Norse surged again to take a 13-10 lead. The visitors would not concede, however, as the Hounds went on the score five straight points – four on NKU attack errors – to secure the win.
Kristina Hefferan led the Greyhounds in kills (16) and blocks (5). She hit .309 while adding five digs.
Cheneta Morrison had 42 assists and 10 digs,
Kristina Kerrigan and
Courtney Anglemyer each had 10 kills, and
Lyndsay Callahan registered 16 digs, eight kills and no attack errors.
The Greyhounds look to keep it rolling at Bellarmine at 3 p.m. Saturday.
