INDIANAPOLIS-  The 20th-ranked Greyhound volleyball team broke a two-way tie for second place in the GLVC standings with a straight-set victory against visiting Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon.  UIndy upped its mark to 6-2 in league play – 14-6 overall – and is now just a game back of the conference lead.

Despite the sweep, the win did not come easy for the Hounds.  The Screaming Eagles (10-7, 5-3 GLVC) improved their hitting percentage in each set and, in the third, looked to battle out of the 0-2 hole.

USI led through much of the first half the final frame, eventually earning a 16-13 advantage.   UIndy reversed the momentum by scoring three in a row to force an Eagle timeout.

Out of the stoppage, UIndy won the race to 25, breaking a 20-20 tie by scoring five of the final seven points to bring its winning streak to five.

The Greyhounds have not dropped a set in the month of October and hope to keep that trend alive when they compete in the annual GLVC/GLIAC Volleyball Crossover.  The Hounds will face three to-be-determined teams from the rival conference Oct. 15-16 in Aurora, Ill.
