NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- After trailing by as much as 12 in the first half, the 10th-ranked UIndy women's basketball team (3-0) exploded for 54 points in the second half of Saturday's 81-56 win at Merrimack College.  Freshman Shelby Wall (pictured) led all players with 20 points.

UIndy's second-half output not only doubled its point total from the first 20 minutes, but also nearly matched the Warrior's output for the entire game.

The win came in the championship game of the annual Courtyard by Marriott Classic.  The contest was the last of three in a four-day span for the Greyhounds, with all three resulting in double-digit wins.

Fresh off a win over Slippery Rock yesterday, Merrimack (1-2) orchestrated a 15-2 first-half run to jump out to a 22-10 advantage.

Over the next five minutes, UIndy cut into the lead, eventually going up 25-24 with two minutes left in the half.  Five different Greyhounds scored over that span.

The Warriors regained the momentum, however, scoring eight unanswered points and eventually taking a 32-27 lead into the locker room.

After the break, the Greyhounds were less tentative against the Warriors' 2-3 zone.  Nine of the Hounds' 11 3-pointers came in the second half, with Wall and Rose Savela combining for seven.

After Merrimack hit the half's initial bucket, Wall went to work.  The Kokomo, Ind., native went on her own personal 8-0 scoring run, giving the Hounds a 35-34 lead.

A pair of Warrior free throws followed, but Wall answered with her third 3-pointer in two minutes, handing the Greyhounds a lead they ultimately would not relinquish.

With 12:27 on the clock, UIndy's edge hit double-digts and would stay there the rest of the way.

All 15 Greyhounds saw playing time, with four scoring in double figures.  Wall's 20 points were followed by Samantha Meissel's 17, 13 points from Savela and 11 from Katie Lyons.

Meissel, who came one rebound shy of a double-double Saturday, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.  She was joined on the all-tourney team by Wall.

The Greyhounds return home to Nicoson Hall next week for the UIndy Thanksgiving Classic.  The four-team, two-day event will take place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27, and will feature Lewis, Marygrove and 3rd-ranked Tusculum.  Click here to view the schedule.
