INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The UIndy wrestling team finished the Greyhound Duals with a 2-1 record after victories over Campbellsville University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and falling to regional power Findlay on Senior Day at the Ruth Lilly Center on Sunday.
Lynn Panko (Avon, Ind./Avon) finished the meet with a 2-0 record for the Greyhounds, earning hard-fought victories over Campbellsville's Jeremiah Fennell and Findlay's Matt Clum.
Panko was one of two senior wrestlers honored in Senior Day ceremonies prior to the meet. The other was
Josh Allen (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) who ended his final home meet as a Greyhound with a convincing 9-1 decision over SIUE's Dustin Young in the event's final bout.
Bryce Givens (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah),
David Lopez (Nappanee, Ind./NorthWood),
Shelby Mappes (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), and
Trey Weliver (Carthage, N.C./Union Pines) all finished the Duals with 2-1 records for Indianapolis.
Givens earned a major decision victory over CU's Conor Young in his opening bout and rounded out his day with a 7-3 win in his last match with SIUE's Steve Ross.
Lopez also earned a pair of decision victories, topping Seth Lucas of Campbellsville 5-2, and SIUE's Nick Jones, 3-1. Mappes and Weliver each picked up a win via forfeit in addition to Mappes' 16-0 technical fall victory and Weliver's pin of Findlay's Josh Falk.
The Greyhound wrestling team concluded their regular season with a 10-9 mark in dual matches and will continue into the postseason when they travel to Central Missouri University for the NCAA Divsion II Super Regionals.
