Did You Know?:   The UIndy softball team is on an 11-game winning streak, the second-longest in school history.  The 1990 team won 12 straight to open that season.

Women's Basketball:  The fifth-ranked Greyhounds were upset in the first round of the NCAA tournament, falling by a single point to Northern Michigan, 52-51 last Friday in Houghton, Mich.  UIndy ends its season with a 26-4 record after making its third straight trip to the NCAA tourney.  Senior Jessica Canary and junior Samantha Meissel were each named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region First Team and will advance to the All-America ballot.

Men's Basketball: Junior guard Darius Adams has been named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region First Team according to an announcement released Wednesday.  Adams becomes the first All-Region player for UIndy since David Logan was the NCAA Division II Player of the Year in the 2004-05 campaign.  Adams led the Greyhounds in points, rebounds, assists and steals in his first year in a UIndy uniform after transferring from Lincoln College.  He is the first UIndy player in history to lead the team in all four categories in a single season.

Swimming and Diving:  Eight UIndy All-America performances, six from the Greyhound women, highlighted a solid four days of competition at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Canton, Ohio completed Saturday night.  The Indianapolis women finished ninth to extend a streak of 11 straight seasons placing in the top 20 nationally.  The Greyhound men took 21st.  Freshman Maura Donahue was part of five All-America swims while sister, Meghan, was part of three.  Erica Smith was a four-time All-America honoree at this year's meet, giving her eight for her career.  Guy Kogel picked up a pair of All-America awards while Shiran Abrahamson, Vicki Galiamoutsa and Jaclyn Luscomb were honored for the first time.

Wrestling:  The three UIndy grapplers competing at the 2010 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships all bowed out of the tournament on day one of the event.  The Hounds' 125 representative, Alex Johns, earned the lone Greyhound victory on the day, taking a 4-3 decision against Newberry's Matt Oliver in his opening bout of the tournament. Johns (33-10) fell 11-4 to Arsenia Barksdale of Adams State to fall into the wrestleback portion of the bracket, where he ended his tournament with a 7-2 loss to Andy Forstner of Minnesota State-Mankato.  Bryce Givens took a pair of losses at 157 for UIndy, finishing out his 2009-10 campaign with a 27-13 record.  Lynn Panko, the Greyhound heavyweight, also took two losses in his first two matches to bow out of the tournament and finish the season at 24-6.

Women's Golf:  In a preview of the upcoming nation finals, the fifth-ranked UIndy women's golf team placed fourth among a talented field at the Ashland University Desert Invitational Thursday.  The eight-team event was held at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., site of the 2010 NCAA D-II National Championship in May.  Last year's individual national champ Lyndsay McBride tied for fourth with a two-day score of 153.  The senior followed a first-round 77 with a five-over 76 Thursday to notch her seventh top-five finish in eight events this season.  Senior Sarah Prascsak (82-78), junior Allison Tyler (85-77), and sophomore Darin Pinnick (83-81) all improved on their first-round score to place between 17th, 21st and 25th, respectively.  Seven of the eight competing teams appear in the top 20 in the Golf World /NGCA Women's Division II Coaches' Poll.   After two Spring Break tournaments in Arizona, the Greyhounds return to the Midwest for the Northern Kentucky Invitational Mar. 27-28.

Men's Golf:  The 11th-ranked UIndy men's golf team placed eighth at the Division-I-heavy Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate Wednesday.  Seniors Kyle Miller and Seth Fair carded matching 227s to tie for 29th at the three-round, 14-team event.  The Hounds' low round came from Miller (77-72-78), who fired an even-par 72 in the second round.  Fair (79-73-75), meanwhile, jumped up four spots in the final round to match Miller at 29th.  Junior Blair Webb finished one back of Miller and Fair with a 12-over 228 (80-73-78).   Sophomore Aaron Monson shared 39th place with a 229 (79-74-76).  UIndy travels to Muscle Shoals, Ala. for the North Alabama Spring Classic Mar. 29-30.

Track & Field:  The outdoor season begins this week as the Greyhounds prepare to compete in the Bearcat Early  Bird Relays Saturday at the University of Cincinnati.   The men's team recently captured the 2010 Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships while the Hound women finished second.

Baseball:  UIndy split a pair of games with Southern Indiana to open league play last weekend.  Sunday's double-dip at Maryville was postponed due to rain.  The Hounds now sit at 7-7 overall with a 1-1 mark in conference play.  Second baseman Adam Akin and DH Zach Kreeger each drove in three in UIndy's 12-10 win on Friday at USI.  On Saturday, the Greyhounds plated a run in the top of the ninth to tie the score at 7-7, but the Screaming Eagles got the winner in the bottom of the frame to earn the victory.  Indianapolis will open its home schedule this week with a 12-game homestand upcoming.  UIndy will play at Marian Wednesday before two with Kentucky State Thursday and four with Kentucky Wesleyan over the weekend.  The Hounds are also expected to announce the make-up of the Maryville series in the coming days, check the website for updates.

Softball:  The UIndy softball team is just one win shy of the school record for consecutive wins after winning all 11 games played over the Spring Break week.  The Hounds swept Illinois-Springfield to start the string then won five in Florida at the Rebel Spring Games.  Sunday and Monday saw UIndy improve to 6-0 in the GLVC with doubleheader sweeps of Drury and Rockhurst.  Senior Megan Russell earned the GLVC Player of the Week for her performance as she broke out in a big way this week.  In her last five games, Russell has gone 12-for-20 with 11 runs, 20 RBI and four HR.  She's improved her batting average 129 points (.170 to .299) in that short span and now holds the lead for RBI in the conference (26).  UIndy continues league play this week, hosting Missouri S&T Saturday and Maryville Sunday.

Women's Tennis:  The UIndy women (7-1) won all three Spring break trip matches after a 6-3 win over Saginaw Valley State Wednesday.  The trip started with a 7-2 win over Minnesota State, Mankato Sunday and followed with an 8-1 win at Eckerd on Monday.  The victories were part of a six-day span that saw the Hounds play three matches in the Orlando, Fla. area.  The Thursday and Friday matches against Mesa State and Grand Valley State were canceled due to rain. The Hounds now gear up for GLVC play, traveling to Northern Kentucky in two weeks (Mar. 27).

Men's Tennis:    UIndy sits at 6-5 overall this season following the Spring Break trip.  The team started its Florida trip last Sunday with a win, defeating Minnesota State, Mankato by a 7-2 count.  Monday saw the Hounds drop a 6-1 decision to host Eckerd, a match that featured many close contests and an abbreviated outcome due to darkness.  Wednesday, a talented Michigan Tech team handed the Hounds an 8-1 defeat in an in-region contest.  The Thursday and Friday matches against Mesa State and Grand Valley State were canceled due to rain.  Indianapolis hosts Vincennes Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the UIndy Tennis Center.
