Box score

INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy baseball team took a break from conference play Wednesday with a 10-3 win over Marian University at MU Baseball Field.  Nine Greyhounds pitched an inning apiece, while Chris Saroff earned one of the team's two extra-base hits with a lead-off double in the fourth.

The Hounds' collective pitching effort surrendered just two earned runs while striking out eight against only three walks.  Seven of the Greyhound hurlers recorded a strikeout, with senior David Early working a 1-2-3 ninth that featured a pair of Ks.

Meanwhile, the UIndy offense scored nine of its runs between the third and sixth innings.  Five singles in the third helped the Hounds to a three spot, while a single and a walk preceded three Knight errors in a four-run fifth.

Junior Colby Shaw earned a game-high three hits as well as a hit by pitch.  Chase Kittinger and Chris Ulrey both had two hits, with Ulrey recording two RBIs and Kaleb Cunningham and Travis Capps each scoring two runs.

UIndy (8-7) will play its first games of the season at Greyhound Park Thursday.  The Hounds start the first of two six-game home stands this month with an in-region doubleheader with Kentucky State starting at noon.
