INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Lakes Valley Conference named UIndy softball player
Jennifer DeMotte as the GLVC Softball Pitcher of the Week in a release this afternoon following her outings against Rockhurst, Maryville, and Missouri S&T.
DeMotte finished the week with a perfect 3-0 record in the circle, a 1.29 earned run average, and 18 strikeouts in 21 innings of work.
The freshman opened the week by earning a 3-2 victory at Rockhurst. DeMotte allowed just two earned runs, while scattering eight hits and striking out five.
The Indianapolis native picked up her second win in UIndy's 7-1 defeat of Maryville. She allowed just three hits, struck out seven Saints, and allowed a single earned run in the victory.
DeMotte capped the week with a 3-2 win over Missouri S&T in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader in which the Lady Miners snapped the Greyhound's 13-game win streak with a 2-1 win in the opener. In addition to fanning seven S&T hitters, she surrended only five hits and did not allow an earned run.
Opponents managed just a .211 batting average against the righty and DeMotte issued only one free pass.
She improved her pitching record to 7-3 on the season and her ERA stands at 1.47. DeMotte has tossed three shutouts, ten complete games, and has recorded 48 strikeouts in 62 innings inside the circle.
The Greyhounds are now 17-8 on the season and 9-1 in league play. UIndy will continue their GLVC conference schedule with trips to Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Indiana this weekend.
