Future Greyhound named to Indiana All-Star team

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy women's basketball recruit Katy McIntosh was recently named to the 2010 Indiana Girls Basketball All-Star Team.  McIntosh, who is the only non-Division-I signee on the 14-player squad, will suit up for the Greyhounds this fall, becoming the first Indiana All-Star to play for the UIndy women since 2003-honoree Amanda Norris.

McIntosh capped a fabulous prep career at Austin High School by leading her team to Indiana Class 2A State Championship earlier this month.  The 5-7 guard finished with 2,195 career points at Austin, good for 14th in the all-time IHSAA scoring record books.  She is also the state's all-time leader in career free throws made.

In addition, McIntosh received All-State First Team recognition from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA). Fellow UIndy signees Shelby Wall (first team) and Chas Lecher (honorable mention) also garnered IBCA accolades.  Indianapolis Head Coach LeAnn Freeland's two in-coming Michigan recruits, Rose Savela and Megan Birchmeier, garnered Class B First Team honors and Honorable Mention, respectively, from the Associated Press.

The Indiana boys and girls All-Stars will play Kentucky's All-Star teams June 11 at Bellarmine University in Louisville, then at Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis the following day.
