LAVEEN, Ariz.- The sixth-ranked UIndy women's golf team opened its championship season with a second-place performance at the 10-team Lewis Shootout At Aguila Friday and Saturday.  The Greyhounds shaved 10 strokes off their first-round score with a 318 Saturday to finish behind team winner Drury.

The GLVC-heavy event was the first outdoor action for UIndy since the fall, as the weather has kept the Hounds practicing indoors all winter.  Senior and defending-national-champion Lyndsay McBride led the squad with a two-round score of 154 (76-78), good for a share of fourth place.

Sophomore Darin Pinnick capped her tournament with a team-low 77 Saturday to finish four strokes back of McBride.  Junior Allison Tyler carded a 161 (81-80), freshman Megan Kiley shot a 174 (91-83), senior Ashley Seaton fired a 169 (81-88), and freshman Lauren Vogt shot a 179 (94-85).

No. 15 Drury took the team title with a two-day score of 613.  The event was held at Aguila Golf Course in the Phoenix area.

UIndy remains in Arizona for the Ashland Desert Invitational at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa Wednesday and Thursday.  The event is a preview of the 2010 NCAA D-II National Championship, taking place at Longbow in May.
