KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The UIndy softball team has rattled-off seven straight wins to move its record to 10-7 overall this season. The team's final three contests at the Rebel Spring Games have been cancelled due to rain and the Hounds will now head to Missouri for league doubleheaders against Drury and Rockhurst Sunday and Monday.
Monday
Megan Russell earned the win in game one, registering 14 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Wheeling Jesuit. The Hounds completed day two with a 2-0 victory over Minnesota State, Mankato with
Jennifer DeMotte grabbing the complete game win.
Tuesday
UIndy hammered St. Cloud State 8-2 in the opener and needed extra frames in the nightcap versus Edinboro to stretch the winning streak to six.
Jennifer DeMotte ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give UIndy the 1-0 win against Edinboro.
Thursday
The Greyhounds continued their winning ways after the day off on Wednesday with a 14-0 whitewashing of Clarion in their opening game. Inclement weather caused delays throughout the game, but UIndy notched their seventh straight in five innings. The Hounds wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four runs in the top half of the first and used a
Jamie Keltz homer to build a 6-0 lead after two.
Megan Russell added a three-run blast in the third as the UIndy bats continued the offense barrage and led 14-0 after three. After rain caused a long delay in the action after four and a half, the Greyhounds completed their win by recording the final three outs after play resumed. Thursday's rematch of the NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regionals with Saginaw Valley State was cancelled due to rain.
