Men's golf places eighth at Palmas Del Mar

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico- The 11th-ranked UIndy men’s golf team placed eighth at the Division-I-heavy Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate Wednesday.  Seniors Kyle Miller (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) and Seth Fair (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) carded matching 227s to tie for 29th at the three-round, 14-team event.

The Hounds’ low round came from Miller (77-72-78), who fired an even-par 72 in the second round.  Fair (79-73-75), meanwhile, jumped up four spots in the final round to match Miller at 29th.

Junior Blair Webb (Avon, Ind./Avon) finished one back of Miller and Fair with a 12-over 228 (80-73-78).   Sophomore Aaron Monson (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) shared 39th place with a 229 (79-74-76).  Brady Klotz (Nappanee, Ind./Northwood) tied for 55th with a 235 (82-77-76), while Brad Abel (Nappanee, Ind./Northwood) shot a 236 (74-80-82) to place 59th.

The 82-man event - held at The Flamboyan Course at Palmas del Mar Country Club in Humacao, Puerto Rico – was won by USC Upstate (861).

UIndy travels to Shoals, Ala. for the North Alabama Spring Classic Mar. 29-30.

NEW YORK- The University of Indianapolis golf teams received national recognition Wednesday, as both were featured in their respective national preseason polls.  The UIndy women will begin their 2010-11 campaign as the 10th-ranked team in the Golf World/NGCA Division II Coaches' Poll, while the Greyhound men debut at No. 18 in the Golf World/Nike Golf D-II Coaches’ Poll.

INDIANAPOLIS-  Senior-to-be Blair Webb highlighted an impressive outing for Greyhound golfers at the 2010 Indiana Amateur Championship which completed Friday at the Country Club of Indianapolis.  Webb put together back-to-back subpar rounds to climb the leaderboard and finish in a tie for third, just two shots off the pace set by Ball State's Eric Steger and Austin Peay's Eric Barnes.

INDIANAPOLIS- In an announcement made by the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tuesday, UIndy student-athletes Jessica Canary (women’s basketball), Seth Fair (men’s golf) and Lyndsay McBride (women’s golf) were each named their respective sport’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Coupled with volleyball player Kyleigh Turner, UIndy boasts four scholar-athletes among the GLVC’s 15 2009-10 award winners, most in the league.
