UIndy 7, Bellarmine 2
INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy grabbed the eighth and final spot in the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships with a 7-2 win over Bellarmine Saturday morning at Center Grove High School. The Greyhounds clinched the spot and can improve on its seeding tomorrow in the season finale with Kentucky Wesleyan.
Alena Perez-Majul and
Maggie Ashby helped the Greyhounds get out to a 2-1 team lead with their win at top doubles. The pair downed Emily Roebker and Rebecca Porter 9-8 while
Ceciley Starkey and
Kelsey Hartman cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Hounds put the match away by winning all but the top position. Perez-Majul was a dual winner on the day, taking her match at No. 3 singles as was Hartman, who won at No. 5.
UIndy (11-3, 3-2 GLVC) closes out the regular season Sunday with a match against KWC. Match time is slated for 10:00 a.m. at Center Grove High School in Grenwood, Ind.
