ROMEOVILLE, Ill.- The UIndy baseball team swept a doubleheader at Lewis Sunday with wins of 6-1 and 12-3 at Brennan Field.  The Greyhounds scored a combined 13 runs in the final inning of the two contests to split the four-game series and move to 25-15 overall and 14-8 in conference play.

GAME 1

In just his third appearance and second start on the mound at UIndy, everyday third baseman Travis Capps climbed the hill and shut the Flyers down for five innings before allowing a single unearned run in the sixth.  The senior surrendered just three hits and one walk while fanning four to garner his first win in a Greyhound uniform.

The Greyhound offense lent six runs of support for Capps, including hanging four runs on the board in the seventh and final frame.  The Hounds plated two in the third on an RBI double from Aryn Ross and a run-scoring single from Chase Kittinger.  After Lewis scored its first run in the fifth to make in 2-1, UIndy notched four insurance runs in the seventh.  Indianapolis cashed in on two Flyer errors in the frame, as three of the four tallies were unearned.

Redshirt sophomore Chris Saroff, who went 3-for-3 at the plate, moved to the mound to pitch a perfect seventh, garnering two Ks and ensuring the win for Capps.  Leadoff-man Kaleb Cunningham also had three hits, while Ross had two runs.

GAME 2
The Greyhounds again scored in bunches in the final inning, this time producing nine runs in the ninth to complete the come-from-behind win.  UIndy was down 3-2 through seven innings but after tying it in the eighth, the Hounds exploded for nine big runs in the top of the ninth to earn the sweep.

Capps continued to produce in the second game.  He moved to his familiar spot at third base and proceeded to go 3-for-5 at the plate, including a leadoff double in the eighth that eventually led to the tying run.

Junior reliever Matt Widick pitched a 1-2-3 eighth to move to 3-0 on the year.  Cunningham, Matt Maringer and Adam Rusche each had two hits.

With just two more GLVC opponents remaining (Wisconsin-Parkside & Northern Kentucky), the regular season is winding down for UIndy, but first the Hounds will host a mid-week match-up with in-region Kentucky State Thursday, Apr, 22.  The doubleheader from Greyhound Park is scheduled to start at noon Eastern.
