INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis men's and women's basketball teams officially announced their 2010-11 schedules Monday. Both squads begin their seasons with exhibition contests against in-state Division I opponents, as the men face Purdue Nov. 2 and the women travel to IU Nov. 6.
The UIndy women, coming off a 26-4 campaign last season, look to make a fourth-straight NCAA appearance in 2011. In addition to the exhibition game with the Hoosiers, the Greyhounds' slate includes a preseason game at Purdue Nov. 7, invitational tournament trips to North Andover, Mass. and Lakeland, Fla., as well as 18 conference games.
After qualifying for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament last spring, the men kick things off with three D-I exhibition games. After its trip to West Lafayette, UIndy heads to Southern Illinois Nov. 6 and Tennessee Nov. 8. Two games in Florida highlight the first half of the schedule before the Hounds get into the meat of their conference slate.
New faces are plentiful among both rosters, as the teams combine for just nine returners. Senior and All-American candidate
Samantha Meissel has a shot at breaking the program's scoring record this year, while go-it-all guard
Darius Adams, who led the Hounds in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals last season, looks to garner a second straight all-region nod.
Both teams open GLVC play at division-rival Northern Kentucky Dec. 4.
