WARRENSBURG, Mo.-  The eight-ranked UIndy volleyball team faced some tough competition Saturday at the final day of the annual Peggy Martin Challenge.  The Greyhounds picked up a four-set victory against No. 20 Pittsburg State before losing in four to ninth-ranked and host Central Missouri.

MATCH ONE
The Hounds handed the 20th-ranked Gorillas (3-4) their fourth loss of the young season, starting by hitting .400 in the opening set.

Indianapolis never trailed in the second frame, but after Pitt. State took a 25-23 win in the third set, the Gorillas looked to force a fifth set by taking an 18-14 lead in the fourth.

UIndy would have none of it, however, as the Hounds ran off 11 straight points to earn the win.  Kristina Hefferan had four kills during the match-clinching rally, while Cheneta Morrison picked up a service ace.

Hefferan made it six straight matches with double-digit kill totals, as the 5-11 junior had 17 kills and three errors on 46 swings.   Courtney Anglemyer hit .632 with 13 kills, Morrison had 43 assists and 19 digs, and Lyndsay Callahan had 17 digs.

MATCH TWO

UIndy sustained its second loss of the season to a ranked team, as the No.9 Central Missouri Jennies (6-2) downed the Hounds in four.

Indianapolis held UCM to a .212 team hitting percentage but hit just .106 themselves, a season low.

The Jennies nearly swept the visitors, but UIndy battled back from a 23-18 deficit in the third set to take a 29-27 win.

Senior Lyndsay Callahan  had a match-high 23 digs and sophomore Kristina Kerrigan had 10 kills.  Meanwhile, Anglemyer was named to the all-tournament team.

UIndy (7-2 ) begins its defense of last year's Great Lakes Valley Conference title next week when it opens conference play with matches at Wisconsin-Parkside and 14th-ranked Lewis Friday and Saturday, respectively.
