TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- The Greyhound cross teams competed at the annual Indiana Intercollegiates Cross Country Championships Friday at Purdue University. The UIndy women topped 12 non-Division I squads from around the Hoosier state, while the men placed fifth of 15.
All five of the women's team scorers finished in the top 20. Finishing in 10th place, sophomore
Katherine Wilhelm led the way with a time of 19.46.50 on the 5K course. She was followed closely by 11th-place finisher
Sutton Knapp, who crossed about three minutes later.
Stephanie Cave finished 15th, Katie Boester was 16th, and
Haley Wittig placed 19th.
The men were again led by
Mark Martinez, as the sophomore harrier placed third among the 128 non-D-I competitors. Junior teammate
Sam Bird also notched a top-ten finish with his time of 26:37.80.
Freshman
Jake Fisher traversed the 8K course in 27:14.50, good for 25th.
Josh Gornall was 49th and Benjamin McMillan was 61st.
UIndy will head to Chicago, Ill. next Saturday to compete in the annul Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational.
