ASHLAND, Ohio- The 17th-ranked UIndy volleyball team (7-5) ended a lengthy eight-match road swing with its fourth consecutive loss Wednesday, as the Greyhounds fell at Ashland in four sets, 26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19. The defeat saddled the Hounds with their longest losing streak since 2001.
The Eagles (6-4) came out hot, scoring on 38 percent of their attacks in the first set on the way to a 26-24 win.
The Greyhounds out-hit their hosts.229 to .162 in the second frame, but Ashland still managed to pull out a 25-22 win and put UIndy in an 0-2 hole.
The in third, the Hounds broke a 12-12 tie with a 5-0 run to help force a fourth set, but Ashland made sure it didn't go any further, defeating its guest by the same 25-19 score that it lost by in the previous stanza.
Courtney Anglemyer and
Kristina Hefferan combined for 23 kills and a .444 hitting percentage. Anglemyer,
Kristina Kerrigan and
Hannah Kelzer each had four total blocks.
Cheneta Morrison earned 38 assists, upping her career total over 2,000.
After eight consecutive matches away from home, UIndy returns to the Ruth Lilly Center to host a pair of conference foes. The Greyhounds face Missouri S&T Friday night at 7 p.m., followed by a 4p.m. meeting with Missouri-Sr. Louis Saturday afternoon. Live stats for both matches can be found
