Three-goal second half gives Greyhounds first win

INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhound women's soccer team tallied its first win and first goal of the season in a 3-0 win over visiting St. Joseph's Friday evening. The win improves UIndy to 1-5-1 on the season, 1-4-1 in GLVC play.

Kaitlyn Braunig broke the UIndy scoring drought with a goal at the 47:10 mark in the second half. Braunig took a ball from Jennifer Rowe on the left side of the box and put it away to give the Greyhounds the lead.

UIndy scored again just after the 80th minute mark to go up 2-0. Nicole Duncan tallied the first goal of her Greyhound career on a ball from Kelsey Wendholt. Duncan beat the keeper and put the ball in past her to score.

Megan Grassly tacked on another goal for UIndy in the 89th minute, scoring on an unassisted shot from the right side of the box.

Danielle Bennett got the win in the net for UIndy, coming on just before the halftime break. Bennett made two saves in facing four shots in her 45:54 of work.

The Greyhounds step out of conference play to take on No.9 Grand Valley State Tuesday on a neutral field in Fort Wayne, Ind.
