Finals Summary
MANCHESTER, Ind.- The Greyhound wrestling team amassed 186.5 total points to take first of 11 squads at the 17th annual Manchester Spartan Mat Classic. Five of the ten weight classes were won by UIndy en route to the team win.
"I am very happy with how our kids wrestled today," UIndy head coach Jason Warthan said. "We not only won matches we stayed aggressive throughout the matches, we got pins and major decisions when we could have settled for regular decisions. We really wrestled well during the last round, which is the most important one."
Senior 149-pounder
Nick Walpole highlighed the Greyhound effort, earning the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler award. Walpole won the 149 weight class, winning three of his four bouts on the day via fall. The top-seeded Walpole bested Manchester's Cameryn Brady in the finals, pinning the Spartan grappler in 5:35.

The heavyweight title was taken by top-seeded
Evan Wooding. The Greyhound freshman also won his first title in a UIndy singlet, going 4-0 with two major decisions and a pin on the day. Wooding won via major in the finals bout, taking a 10-2 win over three-seede Jimmie King of Manchester.
Ethan Harris was the lone second-place finisher at the Spartan Mat Classic for UIndy, taking runner up in the 133 weight class. Harris, the bracket's two-seed, won his first bout via fall and his second via tech fall before falling in the finals 6-2 to top-seeded Nathan Fitzenreider of North Central.
UIndy's
Jeff Weiss took third in the 157 weight class, posting a pair of falls on the day. The top-seeded Weiss was upset in the bracket's quarterfinals by No. 4-seed Joby Bodi of North Central, 4-3. He rebounded with a major-decision win, 10-2, over Andrew Leis of Heidelberg, and then pinned three-seeded Chandler Pogue of Manchester in 6:00 in the third-place bout.
The 165 bracket found a pair of Greyhounds in the third-place bout, with three-seeded
Shelby Mappes winning via forfeit by teammate
