Greyhounds clinch #3 seed with 2-1 win over Pumas

INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy men's soccer team clinched the GLVC Men's Soccer Championships' three seed with a 2-1 win over visiting Saint Joseph's in its regular season finale Wednesday evening.

A Ryan Barnett header on a ball in front of the far side of the goal put UIndy up 1-0 in the 35th minute. Tom McGuire assisted on the play.

Casey Castle pushed the UIndy lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute, chipping in a ball in front of the net into the bottom right corner of the frame on an assist by Taku Chapman. The goal was good for Castle's sixth of the year.

Saint Joseph's cut the UIndy lead in half in the 79th minute on a penalty kick by Bryan Webb.

UIndy out-shot the visiting Pumas 18-4 on the night, and took 11 corner kicks to Saint Joseph's two. Andrew Verhonik took the win in the net for the Greyhounds, making two saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Greyhounds will host six-seeded Bellarmine its first round match Sunday at 2:30 p.m. UIndy defeated Bellarmine 2-1 Oct. 7 at Key Stadium.
