1-0 win over Bellarmine gives Greyhounds eighth-straight victory

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy men's soccer team took its program-best eighth-straight victory in GLVC action Friday, defeating visiting Bellarmine 1-0.

Neither team could net a score in the first half, with UIndy (9-2-0, 8-1-0 GLVC) firing off nine shots to Bellarmine's six. A leaping save by the Knight keeper on a sharply hit shot from Casey Castle in the 23rd minute of action was the Greyhounds' best chance of the first half.

UIndy was finally able to break the scoreless tie in the 80th minute, with Kevin Eggert scoring on a ball sent into the box on a Bobby Adkins corner kick. Eggert tallied the goal on a deflection off of Ryan Barnett during a scramble right in front of the goal. The ball ricocheted off of the crossbar, and into the net behind the Knight keeper.

The Greyhounds out-shot Bellarmine 10-9 overall in the match. Both teams took three corner kicks each in the match.

Justin Roberts earned the shutout victory in the net for UIndy, making four saves in his effort.

The Greyhounds host No. 4 Northern Kentucky Sunday, in a match that will determine the top team in the GLVC. First kick for Sunday's match is slated for 2:30 p.m.
