Greyhound grapplers go 2-2 at Campbellsville Duals

UIndy Complete Results

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Greyhound wrestling team split a four-match day at the Campbellsville Duals Saturday, going 2-2 at the dual tournament.

"I asked a lot of these guys this weekend," Head Coach Jason Warthan said. "To wrestle purdue on Friday and drive through the night to make weight and wrestle four duals today is not an easy task. The guys did a great job of battling through."

UIndy took wins over Tiffin and Cumberlands, and lost to host Campbellsville and Shorter.

The Greyhounds defeated the Cumberlands 31-11 in their first match of the day. UIndy took wins from 157 through 285 en route to the win, with Ethan Harris also taking a win at 133 for the Hounds.

UIndy fell to Shorter 24-14, with Paul Beck (125), Harris (133), David Lopez (149) and Marcus Watson (184) all earning wins in the dual loss.

The Greyhounds bested Tiffin 31-12. UIndy won all bouts of the match except for those at 141, 174 and 184 in the win, with Bryce Givens winning via a 4:57 pin at 174 to highlight the Greyhound performance.

In its narrow 21-19 loss to Campbellsville, UIndy got five individual wins. Josh Kieffer (125), Harris (133), Givens (165), Dustin Parrish (174) and Evan Wooding (285) all earned wins in the loss to the host Tigers.

"We were kind of banged up on the day, so we gave different guys chances to see the mat," Warthan said. "We had a few guys wrestling in different weight classes than usual. We are just trying to see what our best lineup is. The little break we have before the end of the semester will serve us well."

Next up for the Greyhounds is the annual Little State tournament Dec. 2-3. Wabash will do the duty of hosting this year's Little State Tournament.
