Four Greyhounds named All-GLVC

INDIANAPOLIS- Four Greyhound women's soccer players have earned 2011 All-GLVC honors, announced by the league Thursday evening.

Nicole Duncan led the honorees, earning a first team All-GLVC nod. Duncan led the Greyhounds with 25 total points on the season, on her team-high 10 goals plus five assists. The UIndy sophomore spent a good portion of the season in the national rankings with her five gamewinning goals, and also led the conference with that stat.

Megan Grassly, Lauren Soza and Shelby Spinelli all earned a spot on the league's third team this season. Grassly helped the Greyhound defense to six shutouts on the year, and tallied an assist in starting all 19 UIndy matches.

Soza finished second on the Greyhound squad with five goals. She added three asssists and started all 19 UIndy matches on the season.

Spinelli played in all 19 matches, and led the team with eight assists on the year. She added three goals for 14 total points in earning her second All-GLVC nod, as she made the league second team as a freshman.

Amanda Mason from Northern Kentucky earned the league's offensive player of the year honors, while Sam Andert from Quincy was named the defensive player of the year. Rockhurst's Taylor Skala was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year, with Jonathan Velotta of Bellarmine taking the league's Coach of the Year award.
