INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy Student-Athlete Advisory Committee closed out the fall semester by coordinating a toy drive.
The Greyhounds amassed almost 150 toys to donate to the 11th annual Indianapolis RTV6 Toy Drive.
"It's always a wonderful feeling to see an idea come to life, but there is a certain sense of pride when that idea is geared towards helping others,"
Molly Shannon, cross country SAAC rep and the drive's coordinator said.
UIndy student-athletes delivered their collections to the RTV6 drive on the circle Friday, Dec. 16. The Greyhounds were met by Kevin Gregory, RTV6's chief meteorologist, who accepted the UIndy donations and posed for a photo with the Greyhounds.
"I am glad I could share this expereice with my fellow UIndy student-athletes," Shannon said. "We all worked so hard to collect our donations and it is a rewarding feeling to know that we helped so many feelings this holiday season. I am so proud of everyone and can't wait to do it again next year."
Since 2001, the RTV6 Toy Drive presented by AAA Insurance has served more than 100,000 central Indiana children. This year's drive was sponsored by AAA Insurance, Dial One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning and FedEx.
