Complete Brackets
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.- The Greyhound wrestling squad completed at the annual Little State Invitational Friday and Saturday, with
Jake Holler's championship finish in the 174 bracket leading UIndy.
Wabash hosted this year's edition of Little State. The Little Giants' Jake Strausbaugh, the 149 champion, was named this year's Most Outstanding Wrestler, while Wabash's Churis Hurst had the most pins in the shortest time at this year's tournament.
Holler went 4-0 on the two-day event with a pair of falls en route to the weight class title. The number one seed in the bracket, Holler defeated #2 seed Reid Dickerson 5-4 in the championship bout.
Bryce Givens went 2-1 for the tournament, taking second place in the 157 weight class. Givens, the #2 seed in the bracket, posted a 12-1 major decision in his first bout of the event, but fell 8-3 at the hands of top-seeded Elias Larson of Trine in the championship match.
Paul Beck (125) and
Jeff Weiss (165) both finished third in their respective brackets. Beck went 5-1 on the day, taking a 4-3 decision over #4 seed Andre Sanders of Indiana Tech in the third-place bout.
Weiss, the top seed in the 165 weight class, went 4-1 in taking the third-place finish. he posted a pair of falls and a major decision on the day, and took a 3-2 win over Kafuba Donzon of Indiana Tech in the third-place match.
Wade Theil took fifth place in the 141 weight class, along with
Evan Wooding in the 285 bracket.
Kalob Heald took sixth in the 133 weight class,
Blake Harvey was the 141 class' seventh place finisher, while
Weston Davis also finished seventh, in the 165 bracket.
David Lopez also took seventh, in the 149 class, with
Kevin Gaughan also taking seventh in the 197 bracket.
Next up for UIndy is a trip to Nortwestern for the Northwestern Duals. The Greyhounds will take on both the host Wildcats and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at the duals.
