DECATUR, Ala.- UIndy opened the 2011 softball season with a pair of wins at Alabama-Huntsville's Charger Chillout. The Greyhounds started the day with a 7-4 win over Georgia College & State, and followed with a 2-0 win over No. 19 Arkansas-Monticello on a two-run homer by
Che' Hanebrink in the top of the seventh.

The Greyhounds used a two-RBI double from
Jennifer DeMotte in the third inning to start the scoring, with
Jamie Keltz and Devyn Barker crossing the plate on the play. A solo homer from
Dakota Malayer and an RBI single from DeMotte in the fourth added two more runs, and the sixth inning saw a solo homer from Keltz and an RBI single from
Cori Eckerle, who would score on a hit by
Jessica Breeden. DeMotte earned the win in the circle in the victory over the Bobcats, in addition to her three-RBI performance at the plate.
UINDY 2-No. 19 ARK.-MONTICELLO 0
A two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning from Hanebrink broke a scoreless tie and gave the Greyhounds a 2-0 win over No. 19 Ark.-Monticello in their second game of the day at the Charger Chillout. Eckerle, who reached via a walk, scored on the play. DeMotte earned her second pitching win of the season with the UIndy victory.
