Women's tennis falls to nationally-ranked Lakers

The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team dropped its first match of 2011 to No. 15 Grand Valley State, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center.

Meghan Teunis at two singles and Rachel Barger at five singles both won the first set against the top team in the Midwest Region before falling in third set super tiebreakers.

In doubles, Kelsey Hartman and Alena Perez-Majul battled with the No. 12 team in the country of Chelsea Johnston and Darylann Trout of the Lakers (17-0) before falling 8-5 at one doubles.

The Greyhounds (2-1) are off until Feb. 26 when they return to the UIndy Tennis Center to host Cedarville at 1 p.m.
