INDIANAPOLIS- The UIndy baseball team (5-0) remained perfect on the season with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Hillsdale Saturday – 21-6 and 7-1.  The Greyhounds have defeated the Chargers (2-6) four times in the last seven days.

GAME ONE  (7 inn.)
Undy starter Cory Rupert recorded his second win in as many starts, striking out six in five innings of work.  He faced one over the minimum through the first four frames and took a no-hitter into the fifth.

Meanwhile, Charger starter Brent Opland experienced trouble right out of the gate.  Facing an all-righty lineup, the left-handed Opland retired the first batter he faced, but proceeded to allow the next six Greyhounds to reach base safely, highlighted by a three-run double from Andrew Armour.

Opland finished with a line of six hits, eight earned runs and four walks in just two-and-a-third innings pitched.  All three Charger pitchers allowed at least five earned runs.

Senior Kaleb Cunningham went 5-for-5 in the opener, with four runs and five ribbies.  Armour and Nate Koontz, who split time in leftfield, each recorded two hits and five RBI.  Koontz also smacked the first Greyhound homerun this season with a three-run jack in the sixth.

GAME TWO  (7 inn.)
Junior pitcher Donovan Drake notched a complete game win with a 89-pitch, seven-strikeout performance in the second game.  The all-region starter tossed six shutout frames before giving up a single run in the seventh and final inning.  With one out and one already in, the Chargers loaded the base in the seventh, but Drake slammed the door by fanning the final two batters he faced.

Offensively, Koontz shined once again by going 3-for-4 at the plate, with three doubles and three more runs driven in.  Koontz had 12 total bases and eight RBI in just six plate appearances on the day.

UIndy hosts Hillsdale one more time before heading south for its spring break trip.  First pitch tomorrow from Greyhound Park is scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT.
