INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhounds pumped out 18 runs on 14 hits in sweeping Drury 9-5, 9-0 (5), in GLVC conference action at the Indiana Central Little League Monday evening. With the pair of victories, UIndy improves to 18-7-1 on the season, 4-4 in conference play.

NO. 12 UINDY 9 - DRURY 5
Behind a five run first inning highlighted by a grand slam from DeVyn Barker (pictured), the Greyhounds took a 9-5 win over visiting Drury in game one of the day.

The Panthers put up three runs in the top of the first on four hits. UIndy led off their portion of the first frame with a single to left field off the bat of Jamie Keltz, followed by Dakota Malayer reaching first after being hit by a pitch.

After two outs and a 30-minute lightning delay, the Greyhound first resumed with Cori Eckerle walking to load the bases. Shelby Owens followed with a walk to bring in one run, and keep the bases full for Barker.

The Greyhound freshman answered with a shot over the left field fence for her first home run in a UIndy uniform, putting the home team ahead 5-3 after one.

UIndy added two more in the fourth inning, with Owens sending a ball to right field that was mis-handeled. The error plated both Che' Hanebrink and Jennifer DeMotte, who walked to open the inning.

The Panthers put up one more run in the fifth, on a pair of hits. The Greyhounds answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Kelsey Rummel led off the UIndy fifth with a single through the right side, and Keltz followed with a double to left. A fielder's choice by Hanebrink scored Rummel, and Keltz came home a few batters later on a wild pitch.

Drury pushed a single run across in the top of the seventh, on a pair of hits and a Greyhound error, but UIndy held on for the 9-5 win.

DeMotte earned the win in the circle, moving to 10-4 on the year. Keltz had a pair of hits in the contest, while Barker and Owens had four and three RBIs, respectively.

NO. 12 UINDY 9 - DRURY 0 (5 inn.)

Neither team could push a run across in game two until the bottom of the third inning, when the Greyhounds openned the floodgates with nine runs.

UIndy sent 15 batters to the plate in the third to plate the nine-spot. The inning was highlighed by six Greyhound hits, and puncutated by a three-run homerun off the bat of Hanebrink.

Audrey Ernst took the shutout win for UIndy, improving her record to 3-1 on the season. Hanebrink and Barker each had a pair of hits, with Hanebrink leading the offense with three RBIs. The freshman outfielder, along with Keltz, also scored two runs in the win.

The Greyhounds step out of conference play for a doubleheader at Urbana Thursday. First pitch of game one is slated for 3:30 p.m.
