INDIANAPOLIS- The No. 13 Greyhound softball team split a GLVC doubleheader with Southern Indiana Saturday at the Indiana Central Little League. UIndy (20-8-1) took game 8-0 in six innings in game one, and fell to the Screaming Eagles 5-3 in the second game.

The Greyhounds posted a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second inning.
DeVyn Barker led things off by reaching base after being hit by a pitch. She was sacrificed over by
Kelsey Rummel, and scored after a fielding error by the USI shortshop allowed
Jamie Keltz on base. Keltz came home on a fielding error in left field on a double by
Che' Hanebrink to put UIndy up 2-0.
Three more runs found their way across in the third inning for the Greyhounds, with
Cori Eckerle's walk opening the frame. A sacrifice by
Shelby Owens put Eckerle at second, and an infield single by Barker sent her to third.
Eckerle came home on a steal play at second, and the other two UIndy runs of the inning scored on a double to left center off the bat of Keltz.
UIndy put up a single run in the fourth, with Eckerle again being the one to step on home plate. The Greyhound catcher led off the inning with another walk, and came home on a double to left center by Owens to run the score to 6-0 in favor of UIndy.
A pair of runs in the bottom of the six wrapped up the win for the Greyhounds. A sacrifice fly to right by Keltz brought in the first run of the inning, with
Audrey Ernst crossing the plate. A walk-off single to right center by Hanebrink scored Barker, who singled to right center to reach base.
DeMotte (12-4) earned the win, striking out nine over six innings. Keltz had three RBIs in the contest, while Barker went 3-for-3 at the dish.
SOUTHERN INDIANA 5 - NO. 13 UINDY 3
Southern Indiana put its first runs of the day on the board in the top of the fourth inning of game two, on a pair of hits, to take the 2-0 lead.
The Greyhounds answered with one run in the bottom of the fourth, with DeMotte coming around to score after singling up the middle to start the inning.
The Screaming Eagles added three more runs in their half of the fifth inning, to take a 5-1 lead.
Eckerle cut the USI lead to two with a two-run home run over the centerfield fence in the UIndy sixth, plating
Dakota Malayer who walked to start the inning.
Ernst suffered the loss, falling to 3-2. She surrendered all five USI runs.
Lauren Edwards came on in relief and threw two-and-two-thirds scoreless innings, striking out four.
The Greyhounds host Missouri-St. Louis tomorrow in another GLVC doubledip. First pitch from the Indiana Central Little League is slated for noon.
