RENSSELAER, Ind.- On what felt like the only dry day this week, the UIndy baseball team (23-13, 12-12 GLVC) managed to get a pair of games in at Saint Joseph's College Thursday. The Greyhounds downed the Pumas 5-1 in the opener before falling 8-0 in game two.

Starter
Cory Rupert (5-4) returned to form Thursday, allowing a mere three hits and one run in seven solid innings. Rupert came in having surrendered 10 earned runs in his previous 8 1/3 innings, but the senior came out throwing BBs, striking out nine and walking just one on the way to the complete-game win.
Rupert faced just two over the minimum through six scoreless innings before the Pumas' lone run scored on a UIndy error in the seventh. Five of his nine Ks came during the first 2 1/3 innings.
Junior
Matt Maringer also made a return of sorts, though his was more literal than figurative. After missing over two weeks and 12 games due to injury, Maringer – who was penciled in as the Greyhound leadoff hitter – delivered three hits, two runs and an RBI.
Scott Mourey,
Chris Saroff and
Scott Lawley each had RBI singles as well.

SJC's game-two starter Chris Chojnowski turned the tables a bit in the capper, as the 6-5 junior held the Greyhounds off the board for seven frames.
The Hounds managed four hits in nine innings, as Maringer was the only Greyhound to reach base safely twice – getting hit by a pitch in the first and drawing a walk in the eighth.
Starter
Patrick Kraft gave up seven runs (five earned) in five innings to take the loss.
UIndy returns home to a rainy Indianapolis forecast in hopes of hosting a four-game series versus Northern Kentucky Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 PM. If the weather does not cooperate, however, any changes will be announced first here at athletics.uindy.edu.
