Greyhounds win first home outdoor match of 2011

Meghan Teunis fought back from losing the first set to defeat Southern Indiana's Morgan Coquerille 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to give University of Indianapolis women's tennis the victory, 5-4, at Center Grove High School on Friday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (8-5, 2-2 GLVC) fell behind early by dropping doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2, but Kelsey Hartman and Ceciley Starkey battled into a tiebreaker to win at No. 3, 9-8 (4), in a decision that proved vital.

Hartman earned a sweep on the day by downing Ellena Stumpf 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, while Taylor Eckert downed Alyssa Hoover 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Rachel Barger won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 against the Screaming Eagles (5-10, 2-2 GLVC) to help UIndy win 4-of-6 singles matches.

The No. 10 team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Region will remain at Center Grove tomorrow at 10 a.m. for a non-conference, in-region match with the No. 25 team in the country, Northwood.
