Men's tennis battles No. 21 Northwood

Alex Poe won at No. 3 doubles against Northwood.

The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team took to the court against No. 21 Northwood, but fell, 5-2, in the non-conference outing at UIndy Tennis Center on Saturday. The match was moved indoors due to morning thunderstorms.

The Greyhounds (9-12) picked up a pair of wins in doubles against the Timberwolves (10-3) to lead the match early.

Jeff Price and David Schoch won 9-8 (4) at No. 2 doubles, while Trevor Cox and Alex Poe improved to 8-2 as a team with an 8-5 win at No. 3.

Trailing 2-1, Northwood came back to win singles matches at the top four positions in straight sets to earn the victory.

UIndy plays another non-conference match next Saturday at Brescia and then returns to the Great Lakes Valley Conference at Bellarmine on Sunday.
