DeMotte, Keltz earn Daktronics All-Midwest Region honors

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- A pair of Greyhounds earned Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region honors, announced Wednesday. Jennifer DeMotte was named the All-Midwest Region First Team utility player, while Jamie Keltz earned a spot on the All-Region second team. The Daktronics All-Midwest Region softball teams are nominated and voted on by the region's sports information directors.

Jennifer DeMotte earned a spot on the All-Midwest Region First Team, as a utility player. DeMotte's first team selection puts her up for All-American balloting.

DeMotte led the Greyhounds in the circle and at the plate in 2011. The sophomore posted a 22-7 record as the No. 1 UIndy pitcher, tying the Greyhound single-season win record. At the plate, DeMotte's .379 batting average led the squad, as did her .505 onbase percentage and her 10 doubles on the year.

The only player in the conference to appear in the top five in both batting average and earned run average, DeMotte spent the innings when she wasn't in the circle in centerfield.

Jamie Keltz earned her second Daktronics All-Midwest Region honor this season, having been a first team selection a season ago. Keltz, who broke UIndy career records for hits, homeruns and stolen bases this season, led the Greyhounds with 56 hits and a .629 slugging percentage on the year. The senior belted 11 homeruns and finished with 42 for her career.

The four-time All-GLVC selection closes out her career with her name listed in virtually all offensive categories of the UIndy record books. Keltz led the GLVC in runs scored this season, and appeared in the top five in triples, home runs and stolen bases.

The Midwest Region Player of the Year was Katie Martin (DP) of Grand Valley State. Quincy's Torie Bunzell was named the region's Pitcher of the Year.

Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State will meet in Midwest Super Regional this Friday and Saturday to decide the Midwest Region representative at the 2011 NCAA II Championship Series, which is May 26-30 in Salem, Virginia.
