DeMotte named First Team Daktronics, Inc. All-American

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy's Jennifer DeMotte has been named a 2011 first team All-American by Daktronics, Inc.

DeMotte led UIndy with a .379 batting average and a 1.47 ERA on the season. She was the lone player in the GLVC to appear in the top five in both batting average and ERA, and tied the UIndy single-season wins record with 22 victories in the circle on the year.

A First Team All-GLVC and First Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA and Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region selection, DeMotte earned a spot on the team as a utility player. In addition to topping the squad in batting average, DeMotte's .505 onbase percentage and her 10 doubles also led the Greyhounds.

DeMotte becomes the first UIndy softballer to ever earn first team All-American honors with her selection. She joins teammate Kelsey Rummel as an All-American this season, as the UIndy thirdbaseman took home NFCA second team All-American honors Wednesday. With DeMotte and Rummel both attaining All-American status, 2011 also marks the first year ever in which more than one Greyhound has been named an All-American.

Two GLVC players earned first team All-American honors, with NKU's Ashley Gates joining DeMotte. Quincy's Torie Bunzell earned second team honors. jessica Coan of North Georgia was named the 2011 Ron Lenz Pitcher of the Year, while Grand Valley State's Katie Martin earned 2011 Player of the Year honors.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
