2011 Women's D-II ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes
SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced University of Indianapolis men's and women's tennis were 2011 All-Academic Teams and 10 student-athletes were honored as 2011 ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The male Greyhounds were one of just 14 NCAA Division II programs to be an All-Academic Team, while student-athletes
Michael Bradley,
Trevor Cox,
Nick Reinhart and
Pete Wilson represented the Greyhounds individually. This is the fourth season in a row and eighth ITA All-Academic Team award for the men.
The women joined 36 other Division II programs as an All-Academic Team with
Alex Covington,
Kasey Land,
Claire Liles,
Alena Perez-Majul,
Ceciley Starkey and
Meghan Teunis honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. This is the ninth consecutive season the Greyhounds have earned the team honor, while Starkey finished her career as a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2010 and spring 2011).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
