INDIANAPOLIS- Members of the UIndy baseball team took time out of its fall practice schedule Friday to help out at Riley Children's Hospital's "Buckle Up Bash."
"Riley Children's Hospital is something we will continue to support," Greyhound baseball coach
Gary Vaught said. "We love anytime we have a chance to do something to help this hospital and these great kids."
The Greyhound baseballers assisted at various stations at the Buckle Up Bash, which was held to educate Riley kids and their families about the importance of car seat and seatbelt safety.
"Helping out today made us feel very fortunate for what we have," Greyhound senior
Chris Saroff said. "We all realized that we shouldn't take anything for granted."
UIndy student-athletes played games with the Riley patients and their families, manned a photo booth with the event's Buckle Up Bug and assisted with various arts and crafts at the event.
"It was an absolutely incredible opportunity to be able to do something for those kids," UIndy senior
Adam Rusche said. "It is awesome how something as small as a visit can brighten a little boy or girls day the way it did."
The Greyhound baseball team is in the midst of its fall workouts. UIndy will host Parkland College in a scrimmage Saturday beginning at noon.
