INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhound men's soccer team fired off 25 shots, with three of them finding the back of the net in a 3-1 win over Illinois-Springfield in GLVC action Friday night.
Wes Oliver tallied the eventual gamewinner in the 26th minute, on a breakaway down the far side. Oliver's third score of the year put UIndy on top 1-0.
Tom McGuire found the back of the net for the rist time this season on a header off of a
Bobby Adkins corner kick at the 41:08 mark to give the Greyhounds the 2-0 advantage heading into the half.
McGuire's head again found the mark in the 48th minute, again off of an Adkins corner.
Illinois-Springfield tallied its lone goal in the 76th minute, on a header from Carlo Cubero. The score came on a cross to the far side from Jon Powell, with Cubero finishing the ball past the out-stretched UIndy keeper.
Justin Roberts and
Andrew Verhonik combined for the victory, with Verhonik surrendering the Prairie Star goal.
The Greyhounds host #24 Quincy in GLVC play Sunday afternoon. First kick is slated for 2:30 from Key Stadium.
