INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhound men's soccer team handed No. 24 Quincy its first GLVC loss of the season Sunday, taking a 2-0 win over the visiting Hawks. The win was UIndy's fifth consecutive, dating to Sept. 11.
A Quincy (5-2-1; 4-1-1 GLVC) own goal just after the 10-minute mark proved to be the gamewinner for UIndy (6-2-0; 5-1-0 GLVC).
Casey Castle sent a ball across the box that bounced off of the Hawk defender into his own net to put the Greyhounds up 1-0.
Taku Chapman tallied his first goal of the year in the 42nd minute, taking a ball from
Kevin Eggert and beating the Quincy keeper one-on-one for his first goal of the season.
UIndy out-shot Quincy 19-11 in the contest, and took seven corner kicks to the Hawks' five.
Justin Roberts earned the the shutout victory, his fourth of the season. Roberts made four saves in his complete game in the net.
The Greyhounds take to the road for GLVC play next weekend, with a Friday contest at Southern Indiana followed by a Sunday game at Kentucky Wesleyan.
