EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Greyhound men's soccer team won its sixth game in a row with a 3-2 victory at Southern Indiana Friday evening in GLVC play.
The Screaming Eagles (1-8-0; 0-7-0 GLVC) tallied the match's first goal, with Austin Andrekus scoring his first goal of the year in the 14th minute on a through pass up the middle from Brock Gourley.
UIndy (7-2-0; 6-1-0 GLVC) answered back just more than 10 minutes later, with
Casey Castle scoring his first goal of the season. Castle took a pass in front of the goal from
Matt Franco to knot the match at 1-1.
Bobby Adkins gave the Greyhounds the lead just after the 26-minute mark. Adkins scored his second goal of the season on a ball given to him at the corner of the 18 from Franco. Adkins juked the USI defender to the right, and bent the score into the far side of the net.
Franco scored a goal of his own in the 51st minute, firing a rocket about 35 yards into the net. The score was Franco's first of the season.
Southern Indiana answered Franco's score juts three minutes later, with James Kennedy's first goal of the season, running the score to 3-2 in UIndy's favor.
The Greyhounds out-shot the host Eagles 15-8 in the match. Southern Indiana took three corner kicks to the Greyhounds' one.
UIndy heads to Kentucky Wesleyan for a Sunday GLVC contest against the Panthers.
