INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhounds' Matt Royer has been named this week's GLVC Field Athlete of the Week.
Royer started the indoor season off with a bang last weekend, winning the men's weight throw at the Wabash Little Giant Invitational. Royer's toss of 20.98 meters was not only a school record, but is also an NCAA automatic qualifying mark.
In addition to his performance in the weight throw, Royer also took top billing in the shot put at the event, with a throw of 17.61. That mark was good for an NCAA provisional mark.
Royer has been named the GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week twice before, both last season. He also earned the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honor once last year. This week marks the first week of the award this season.
The Greyhounds are back in action this weekend at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.
