INDIANAPOLIS- In conjunction with the 2000 baseball team being inducted into the UIndy Hall of Fame, head coach
Gary Vaught hosted a roast of himself to benefit Riley Children's Hospital.
"It was a great honor in my more than 30 years of coaching to have a team inducted into the hall of fame," Vaught said. "It was great to have all those guys back and to be able to have some fun and raise some money for a great cause."
Ten former players and coaches roasted the Greyhound head man, ranging from his junior college days up through his present position at UIndy. In all, more than $2,000 will be donated in the name of the 2000 UIndy Baseball Team to Riley Children's Hospital.
The 2000 team finished third at the NCAA Division II World Series, the highest finish in program history. The squad amassed arecord of 42-23, 19-8 in GLVC play, earning them the conference regular season title.
This year's edition of Greyhound baseball will open its season Mar. 2 with a home contest against Oakland City.
