TUCSON, Ariz.- Three Greyhounds garnered recognition from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently, headlined by a Preseason All-America nod to senior RP/DH
Chris Saroff.
Saroff was one of 17 players from the Midwest Region to be named a preseason All-American. An All-GLVC First Team honoree last season, he hit .336 in 107 at bats in 2011, while also racking up seven saves as the Greyhounds' closer. The Crown Point, Ind., native currently ranks fourth at UIndy in career saves.
Also honored by the ABCA were senior
Donovan Drake and junior transfer
Tyler O'Daniel. As the Hounds' top returning pitcher, Drake was one of 18 student-athletes on the ABCA's Midwest Region “Players to Watch” list. Meanwhile, O'Daniel was one of 17 Midwest “Newcomers to Watch” after hitting .386 with eight homers at Rend Lake College last spring.
The list of top players for 2012 was compiled by the ABCA's NCAA Division II All-America Baseball Committee, chaired by Rudy Garalosa of Lynn University.
