AURORA, Ill. – The No. 9 UIndy volleyball team had its 14-match winning streak snapped by Ashland, 3-2 (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13), on Friday afternoon at the Great Lakes Center in the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover. The Greyhounds then bounced back to handle No. 21 Ferris, 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 20-25, 25-18) on Friday evening.

"I really liked how the team bounced back after a five-set battle in the morning. They didn't blame people and point fingers. They just came out determined to play better as a team and we needed to respond like that against a nationally-ranked team like Ferris State," head coach Jody Rogers.

The Greyhounds (17-3, 9-0 GLVC) were led by Kristina Kerrigan with 22 kills, 17 digs and four assists, while Kourtney Crawford hit .423 with 13 kills and six blocks. Brittany Anglemyer added 12 kills on .375 attacking against the Eagles (14-4, 6-3 GLIAC).

Meghan Binkerd posted 49 assists with 15 digs and seven kills attacking .417, while Amy Oldenburg led UIndy with 22 digs.

UIndy hit .250 as a team with 63 kills, while the Eagles were able to tally 71 kills and hit .254.

Kenzie Bruggeman also had a career-high 17 digs for the Greyhounds as they tallied 91 digs and nine blocks (eight by Julia Watkins) to 82 digs and seven blocks for the Eagles.

Ashland was paced by Brittany Snider with 27 kills and 11 digs, while Marci Zagarac had 31 digs and five assists. Crystal Elliott finished with 58 assists, 10 digs, four kills and two blocks, including teaming with Susie Jonas for the game-winner on match point in the fifth set.

The Greyhounds are back in action at 6:30 p.m. ET against No. 21 Ferris State (14-4, 8-1 GLIAC), which lost to Lewis in its opening match of the crossover.

In the nightcap, the Hounds (18-3, 9-0 GLVC) were led by Kerrigan again as she hit .383 with 23 kills and 11 digs against the Bulldogs (14-5, 8-1 GLIAC) in a rematch from the second round of last year's NCAA Tournament.

Arielle Knafel added 12 kills, while Crawford chipped in 11 and Anglemyer tallied 10. Binkerd set the balanced attack with 53 assists, nine digs and five kills as the Greyhounds hit .303 to .200 attacking for FSU.

Oldenburg led all players with 19 digs, while no player on Ferris had more than nine. Bruggeman added 11 more digs in her back row role for the Crimson and Grey.

UIndy will conclude the tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET with its second meeting of the season against Wayne State (13-6, 7-2 GLIAC). The Warriors fell to Missouri-St. Louis in their opening match, but won at night against Southern Indiana.
