On Tap:  Tied with co-division-leaders Northern Kentucky and Wisconsin-Parkside, the Greyhounds look to keep pace when they host Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

About Kentucky Wesleyan:  After defeating UIndy two weeks ago (more on that below), the Panthers have dropped two in a row, including a 64-41 beating at Northern Kentucky and a 85-81 loss at home to Bellarmine.

KWC, who earned its first-ever NCAA bid last year, enters the week fourth in the conference in scoring at 69.6 ppg.  That average is identical to that of UIndy's, as both teams have amassed a total of 1,323 points in 19 games.

Wesleyan sports one of the league's most balanced scoring attacks, as seven Panthers average between 6.3 and 10.5 points per game.  Senior Katie Behrens is on the high end of the range as the only player averaging in double figures.

Hounds vs. Panthers:  At 33-23, the Hounds are 10 games over .500 in the all-time series with KWC.  However, the Panthers have won each of the last three meetings, including a 69-62 win in Owensboro Jan. 21.

The Greyhounds notched season lows in both free throw percentage and steals in that contest, going 12-for-21 from the line (.571) and managing just four takeaways.

About Southern Indiana:  After going 12-6 in the GLVC last season, the Screaming Eagles have mustered just one conference win in 2011-12.  USI heads into the week with a 1-10 league mark, with its lone victory coming in a 58-55 home decision versus Saint Joseph's Jan. 21.

The Screaming Eagles are forcing a league-best 21.9 turnovers per game.  Meanwhile, UIndy averages just 14.9 give-aways per contest, good for third in the GLVC.

Freshman and Evansville native Anna Hackert leads the Eagles in scoring (11.1 ppg) and ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.543).  She and fellow-rookie Brooke Valentine average a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.

Hounds vs. Screaming Eagles:  UIndy owns a 35-26 edge all-time versus USI.  The Hounds have won three of the last four, including a 66-49 road win Jan. 19.  That night, the Eagles earned their first and ultimately only lead at 7-5, until the Greyhounds engineered a crippling 23-6 run to take control and cruise to the win.

Last Time Out:  Wisconsin-Parkside came into Nicoson Hall last Saturday and escaped with a 73-70 win.  Ranger senior Kaitlyn Bettiga broke a 70-70 tie with a conventional 3-point play in the waning seconds.

Then with just 9.9 ticks left, the Hounds came up empty on the game's final possession, as Parkside held on for the win and also to tie the Hounds in the GLVC standings.

Home Blemish:  The speed bump versus Wisconsin-Parkside marked the first home loss for UIndy this season.  The Hounds are now 9-1 at Nicoson Hall on the year.

Triple Trouble:  One major issue that worked against UIndy during the Parkside game was its 3-point shooting.  The Greyhounds couldn't find their shooting touch versus the Rangers, as the team combined to sink just 2-of-21 attempts from behind the arc.  The resulting .095 percentage easily marked a season low.

GLVC Picture:  UIndy, No. 24 Wisconsin-Parkside and Northern Kentucky all enter the week with matching 8-3 records in conference play, good for a share of the GLVC East Division lead.  Two wins this week could go a long way for the Hounds, as NKU and Parkside play each other Saturday.  Meanwhile, West-Division-leader Drury owns a 9-2 league mark, one game better than Quincy and Missouri S&T.

The conference regular season will determine the seeding at the 2012 GLVC Tournament.  The top four squads -- regardless of division -- will earn byes in the 12-team bracket, while seeds five through eight will host first-round match-ups Feb. 25 or 26.

After a re-seeding, the quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Ill., Mar. 1-4.

Back East:  All seven of UIndy's remaining regular-season contests are rematches with East Divison foes.  The Hounds went 6-1 in their first trip through the East, but still have road games remaining with co-division leaders NKU (Feb. 9) and Wisconsin-Parkside (Feb. 18).

New Kid on the Block:  It took just 19 games, but junior Sydney Weinert etched her named in the school's record books last Saturday.  The 6-1 forward swatted her 63rd shot of the year in the second half of the Parkside game, setting a new UIndy single-season record for blocked shots.

Ranking first in the GLVC and third in the nation with 3.3 blocks per game, Weinert has seven regular-season games remaining, as well as some potential postseason contests, to add to her season total.

A few of side notes...
*The former UIndy benchmark was held by UIndy-great Courtney Sands, who  blocked 62 shots back in 1990-91.
*The NCAA D-II single-season record is a whooping 219, set by LaKisha Phifer of St. Paul's in 1995-96.
*Current UIndy Head Coach Constantin Popa averaged 3.15 blocks per game for Miami in 1992-93, setting a then-Hurricane record with 85 blocked shots.  That mark has since been passed by the slimest of margins, as Anthony King blocked 86 attempts for “The U” in 2004-05.  Popa still owns the Miami career mark with 263 blocks.

Easy E:  Sophomore Eliza Wortman had a career day versus Parkside Saturday, as the Germantown, Wis., native set personal bests in points (11), rebounds (8) and minutes played (25).  Wortman set another career high with five made free throws, two of which completed three-point plays.

Percentage Points:  Thanks to a solid 56-percent shooting performance at Lewis last Thursday and an impresive 65-percent effort from inside the arc versus Parkside Saturday, UIndy moved into first in the GLVC in team field goal percentage.  The Hounds are shooting a league-best 44.7 percent from the floor heading into Thursday's game, good for 16th in Divison II.

Head Turner:  Junior Kristin Turner paces the GLVC in scoring at 18.9 points per game, with that average rising to 22.0 ppg in league play.  She is looking to become just the third Greyhound woman to top the GLVC in scoring, as Debbie Law (19.2 ppg, 1982-83) and Sam Meissel (19.2 ppg, 2009-10) previously finished on top.

After scoring seven points in the season opener versus California (Pa.), Turner has reached double-figures in every game since, and has scored more than 20 points in nine of the previous 10 contests, moving her into 18th in D-II in points per game.

Additionaly, Turner has made at least one 3-pointer in 23 consecutive games dating back to last season.  She ranks second in the GVLC by averaging 2.5 triples per game.

Hounds on TV:  Produced by HomeTown Television, the following games will be televised via tape-delay and air on WRTV 6.2 HTSN: Jan. 16 vs. St. Joseph's, Feb. 2 vs. Kentucky Wesleyan and Feb. 16 vs. Lewis.

Those games are also streamed live on hometownsportsindiana.com and the remainder of UIndy's home games will be available free on the Hounds' Ustream channel at ustream.tv/channel/Indianapolis-Greyhounds.

Hounds on Radio:  The Greyhounds are broadcast live on WICR 88.7 FM.  You can also catch the Greyhounds on the Internet via live streaming.  Get details at wicr.uindy.edu/audio.
