INDIANAPOLIS- Head Coach
Kiley Cirillo has announced the addition of seven incoming freshman to his 2012 roster.
The seven additions all hail from the Midwest, with three Michiganders, two Ohio natives and two Hoosiers joining the Greyhounds this fall.
"I am excited to welcome the class of 2012, our newest group of Greyhounds," Cirillo said. "We set out to recruit a diverse class that would add talent, athleticism and experience to our squad. Student-Athletes who have experienced success at all levels, while competing at a high level of soccer and one that was accustomed to performing well in the classroom. This class possesses a solid foundation that will allow them to help continue the strong growth and tradition of success both on the field and in the classroom when they arrive on campus in August."
Taylor Cotherman is a 2012 rookie from Indiana. The Carmel product helped the Greyhounds to an Indiana State High School Athletic Association state title a year ago, and was an Academic All-State selection as well as a Scholar Athlete.
Danae Ehret also comes from the Hoosier state. Ehret, a goalkeeper, is a Northwood High School product that holds school records in
season wins, fewest losses, fewest goals allowed, fewest goals allowed per game and shutouts as a prep. She was also a two-time Academic All-State honoree and a National Honor Society member in high school.
Kiara Elliott and
Ambri Johnson both come to UIndy from Ohio. Elliott tallied 27 goals in her career at Northwest High School, and was a three-time all-city honorable mention. She also was a three-time first team all-conference honoree, and was named the the all-conference second team as a freshman. Johnson, a Cincinnati native, is a four-time all-conference selection out of Winton Woods High School.
Lindsey Adams,
Jessica Bentley and
Lindsey Bryant all will head south for their collegiate careers, from Michigan.
Adams comes to the Greyhounds from Clarkston High School, where she helped her team to a conference title last season. She is a two-time MHSAA All-District selection and was an all-league selection last season.
Bently, an all-district honoree out of Hartland High School, tallied nine goals and 14 assists as a junior for the Eagles last year. She earned KLAA All-Conference honors and the Hartland High Scholar Athlete Award last season as well.
Bryant is a Grand Blanc High School product. A National Honor Society member, Bryant helped her club team, the Michigan Gators, to a pair of state cup finalist finishes in 2010 and 2011.
The seven newcomers will join the Greyhounds for the 2012 season. UIndy graduated nine seniors a year ago, in which they finished the season 11-8-0 in the first round of the GLVC Tournament.
