Hounds, Lalonde shut down Eagles

Box score

AUBURNDALE, Fla.- Ashland University baseball, meet Hugo Lalonde.  The junior transfer from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M introduced himself to the Eagles – and all of Division II for that matter – by tossing a nine-inning gem in UIndy's 5-0 win at the Russmatt Central Florida Invite Saturday afternoon.  Lalonde needed just 76 pitches to record the complete-game shutout, moving his record to 2-0 on the year.

A 35-win team from last year, Ashland was limited to just six hits on the day, as Lalonde induced 19 ground outs, while striking out three and walking none.

The UIndy offense put up a three spot in the third inning, as Jake Hartley, Tyler O'Daniel and Scott Mourey managed back-to-back-to-back RBI singles.

The Hounds capped the game's scoring with two more in the fourth, with Scott Lawley and Mike Page notching RBIs.

UIndy continues play in Florida tomorrow when it faces another Midwest Region team in Ohio Dominican.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
