#7 UIndy softball improves to 16-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla.- #7 UIndy continued its hot streak, picking up two more wins in Rebel Spring Games action Tuesday.

The two victories run the Greyhounds current win streak to 12, second-most in program history.

#7 UIndy 2, Minnesota-Duluth 1
A game-winning hit from Sydney Russell in the top of the seventh plated Alexa Alfaro and gave the Greyhounds a 2-1 win over Minnesota-Duluth.

In addition to Russell, Taylor Russell, Briana Clark and Samantha Krcelich each had hits in the ballgame for UIndy, while Jennifer DeMotte (11-1) took the win, striking out five and walking no one. The Greyhound junior surrendered just three hits and the Bulldogs' lone earned run in the complete-game effort.

#7 UIndy 9, Edinboro 2
The Greyhounds jumped out on top in game two of the day quickly, picking up five runs in the top of the first inning.

A single to center by Taylor Russell got things started. She would come into score on a bases-loaded walk issued to Alfaro. A sacrifice fly to leftfield a batter later by Krcelich scored Casey Williamson, who walked to get on.

Clark sent a ball out of the park over the right field fence to plate the other three UIndy runs of the first inning, scoring DeMotte and Alfaro.

Edinboro put up a single tally in the bottom half of the inning, on one hit and one Greyhound error.

UIndy added a pair in the second inning, with a Williamson triple scoring Russell, who reached on a fielder's choice. Williamson came in to score on an RBI ground-out by DeMotte a batter later.

The Fighting Scots scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth inning, on a lead-off solo homer to right.

The Greyhounds closed out their nine-run total with two runs in the sixth inning, both coming on an RBI single to right field off the bat of DeMotte. Williamson and Russell both scored on the play.

Audrey Ernst moved to 4-0 with the win in the circle, tossing five-and-two-thirds innings, and striking out four. Williamson, Clark and DeMotte all had two hits in the ballgame, with DeMotte and Clark each tallying three RBIs apiece in the win.

UIndy takes a day off Wednesday, and will close out play at the Rebel Spring Games with contests against Northwood and Adelphi Thursday.
