INDIANAPOLIS-  The UIndy baseball team (7-6, 3-1 GLVC) garnered a pair of wins Saturday, downing a talented Rockhurst club 13-6 and 3-0 at Greyhounds Park.  Shortstop Mike Page (pictured) amassed a combined five hits on the day, while starting pitcher Donovan Drake earned a five-hit shutout in the capper.

Page, who had already hit in four different spots in the lineup heading into the weekend, was moved up to leadoff for the first time this season.  The shuffle paid off handsomely for the senior shortstop, as Page went a combined 5-for-7 with four runs and four RBI on the day.

Meanwhile, Drake notched his second straight shutout in game two of the doubleheader, limiting the Hawks' bats to zero runs and five hits while striking out six in seven innings of work.  The right hander, who has now thrown 14 consecutive scoreless frames, also pitched around two walks, marking his first two free passes handed out this season.

GAME 1   (9 inn.)
Buoyed by a cumulative five doubles from Page, Nick Whitty and Matt Maringer, the Greyhounds hung 13 runs on the visiting Hawks in the opener.   Seven of runs were charged to Rockhurst ace Mark Sappington (3-2), who took the loss after lasting just four innings.  Sappington came into the day leading the GLVC in both ERA and strikouts.

The Hawks (9-7, 2-4) took their first and only lead of the day when a two-run homer from all-region first baseman Ryan Porter made it 5-4 in the top of fifth inning, but the Hounds came right back with a four spot in their half of the fifth, then put it away with five more runs in the seventh.

UIndy starter Hugo Lalonde (3-1) garnered the win after giving up five tallies in five innings.

Defensively, catcher Whitty gunned down three would-be base stealers at second base Saturday, including two in game one.

GAME 2  (7 inn.)
After quite the offensive display in the opening game, Saturday's second contest turned into a pitchers' duel.  The Hounds managed single runs in the first, second and fourth innings to account for the entirety of the scoring.

Drake (2-1) faced just three hitters over the minimum in the seven-inning affair, as the Whiteland, Ind., native needed just 84 pitches to dispose of the visiting Hawks.  His counterpart, Nick Lichtenberger (1-3), also went the distance, giving up three runs, seven hits and one walk.

UIndy's offensive highlight came in the bottom of the fourth inning when third baseman Tyler O'Daniel found National Avenue with a solo jack on the first pitch of the frame.

The Greyhounds host another GLVC West opponent tomorrow, as William Jewell invades Greyhound Park for a Sunday twin bill.
